What this is
PocketCyprus is a complete, honest guide to Cyprus. Every beach, ancient site, village, viewpoint, museum and nature spot on the island, each with its own page, its exact location and the practical details that matter. On top of that data, Cypriots on our team add the layer no database can: photos they took themselves, verified opening details, and short notes on whether a place is actually worth your time.
What makes it different
Most travel content about Cyprus is written by people who spent four days here, optimized the title for search engines, and moved on to the next island. We took the opposite approach: build the complete factual map first, then improve it every single week with local eyes. When a page says "Verified", a real person on our team checked it, and the date is shown.
We also promise honesty over inventory: if a famous stop is a tourist trap, we say so and point you somewhere better. There are no paid placements in our recommendations.
Where the data comes from
Place data begins with OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, used under the Open Database License. Our database of places and the practical points shown alongside them is derived from OpenStreetMap under ODbL 1.0, and a copy of that derived database is available on request at [email protected].
Weather forecasts come from MET Norway (Locationforecast, CC BY 4.0). Sea temperatures come from NASA JPL's MUR SST product via NOAA CoastWatch (public domain), and wave data from NOAA WaveWatch III (public domain). Elevation data comes from NASA SRTM and partners, via the open Terrain Tiles dataset on AWS. Structured facts such as founding dates, architects and heritage designations come from Wikidata (CC0). Exchange rates come from the European Central Bank, and fuel price averages from the European Commission's Weekly Oil Bulletin (CC BY 4.0).
Historical context and some photography come from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons under the CC BY-SA license; each enriched page links to its source article, where full author and image credits are available.
How we earn
PocketCyprus shows no display advertising, and right now it carries no booking or affiliate links at all. When booking links return, they will be clearly marked, we may receive a commission from the booking platform at no extra cost to you, and they will never influence what we recommend.
Who is behind it
PocketCyprus is built and operated by IPNOVA, a Cyprus company. The people verifying places on this site live on the island; this is home, not a content assignment.
